Virtual Mentoring Program
CARE Centre is delighted to offer the Virtual Mentorship Program to all our members in collaboration with our 20 Observational Job Shadowing employer partners across Ontario.
Time Commitment:
Length of the mentorship is for 1 month (1-2 hour meeting per week for 4 weeks) via telephone and/ or other electronic means. The expert nurse (mentor) and IEN (mentee) will arrange the schedule that is mutually agreeable to both parties.
Possible discussion topics and learning opportunities:
- Documentation (includes e-documentation)
- Medication Administration
- Health and Physical Assessment
- New equipment and use of new technology
- Therapeutic Communication
- Nursing procedures (e.g. wound care, IV therapy etc.)
- Telephone orders
- Receiving/admitting/discharging patients and shift reporting/Transfer of Accountability
- Nursing scope of practice and nursing role in the unit
- Interprofessional Team
- Best Practice Guidelines
- Facility Policy and Procedures
- Certifications and trainings required to pursue the unit/specialization (if applicable)
- Facility hiring procedure
- Networking opportunity
