DAY 1- May 12th, 2025 (9:30-11:00am)

A POWERFUL STORY FROM THE BEDSIDE: “Behind the curtains you never know whose life you can touch” 

Join us for a powerful opening event that highlights the transformative role of nurses in shaping health and healthcare in Canada, featuring opening remarks by Dr. Ruth Lee, Dr. Karima Velji and video messages from Dr. Leigh Chapman, Chief Nursing Officer of Canada, and Dr. Valerie Grdisa, CEO of the Canadian Nurses Association. This will be followed by presenter Kent Soltys, ahealthcare leader, clinical educator, and nursing thought leader who will deliver a powerful talk titled “A Powerful Story from the Bedside: Behind the curtains you never know whose life you can touch.”

Join us for an inspiring session with Nurse Practitioner Lhamo Dolkar, current President of Registered Nurse Association (RNAO), as she shares her powerful journey—from immigrant to nursing leader—highlighting how professional associations can elevate your voice, strengthen your leadership, and drive real change in healthcare. The event will also include the presentation of CARE Centre’s Mentor of the Year Excellence Award, recognizing exceptional leadership and support in the nursing community.

THE ROLE OF WeRPN in NURTURING FUTURE NURSING LEADERS: “Expanding the Scope of RPNs in Research”

Norma Tomlin RPN, BHA, MHA and Jen Calver, RPN, CNA will share with us the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario (WeRPN) innovative research program that strengthens the impact and relevance of research advancing nursing, policies and improving healthcare outcomes.

NAVIGATING OPPORTUNITIES IN NORTHERN TERRITORIES: “The Role of Nurses in Remote and Rular Communities”

Maria Fey Villacampa, will speak about her journey as an IEN in the Northern Territories and exploring community nursing.
