CARE Centre for Internationally Educated Nurses presents:

Indigenous Health Workshop #2: Reconciliation

Indigenous Health Workshop #2: Reconciliation

On Wednesday, Feb. 11th CARE Centre brings participants from STARS and PASS Program together to attend a guest webinar with Inuk nurse leader and advocate Stephanie Tuurngaq Gildbert, RN, BN, CRN. Stephanie will guide you with essential knowledge for your nursing career in Canada by sharing her expertise on cultural safety and humility, truth and reconciliation, leadership and policy planning.

Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action #24 calls upon all medical and nursing schools in Canada to require students to take a course dealing with Aboriginal health issues, including the history and legacy of residential schools, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, Treaties and Aboriginal rights, and Indigenous teachings and practices. This exciting session on RECONCILIATION is the 2nd in a series of 3 lessons: following TRUTH and setting the foundation for our final webinar on CONSOLIDATION.

To facilitate your learning journey, Stephanie will provide skills-based training in intercultural competency, conflict resolution, human rights and anti-racism, so you can best serve your clients, families, communities, teams and workplaces. Just as we value critical thinking, ethics, mentorship, ongoing learning – as key skills and requirements of being a nurse – we will also take alongside cultural safety and humility.
