Position Summary
Clinical Team Manager, Mental Health Adult Inpatient Mental Health (7W) and MHESU (Purple Zone) Your goal in this position is to ensure operational and clinical excellence, while facilitating the provision of an outstanding patient and family experience. You will do this by providing outstanding leadership and accountability, and the promotion of high quality evidence-based care. You will take on responsibility for the physical, financial, and human resources of the 29 bed adult inpatient mental health unit which includes a 5 bed PICU (7W), the Mental Health Emergency Services Unit (Purple Zone) and ensure the clinical and regulatory compliance of the team. We also want you to be a great relationship builder, and foster close contacts with peers across the entire organization and with community mental health agencies. You also have excellent interpersonal skills, and you effortlessly connect with physicians, staff, patients, and families. This position supports the hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy
environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.

On a practical level, you will:
• Take on leadership and accountability at a unit/team level for a high quality and safe patient/family experience
• Promote best practices and evidence based care through the implementation of initiatives that are aligned with the organization’s strategic direction
• Manage on a day to day basis the physical, financial and human resources of the teams in line with the mission, vision, values and strategic direction of the organization
• Ensure clinical and regulatory compliance of the team by supporting inter-professional professional practice improvement
• Maintain compliance with required Health & Safety, environmental and other legislative requirements
• Build relationships with peers and other contacts across the organization and externally to create opportunities for synergy/integration

Qualifications
• Registered Nurse with a minimum of a Master’s degree (or in progress)
• Acute Adult Care Mental Health experience is preferred
• Current registration as a regulated health professional in good standing
• Master’s degree in relevant field preferred
• 3 to 5 years’ clinical management or leadership experience preferred
• Relevant professional regulatory requirements including standards and scope of practice for direct reports is preferred
• Knowledge of relevant legislated acts including but not limited to Personal Health Information Protection Act, Protection of Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Infection Protection and Control, Workplace Occupational Health and Safety is preferred
• Experience working in a unionized environment is preferred
• Working with individuals from diverse cultural, social and ethnic backgrounds is preferred
• Financial Acumen and Budgeting in the healthcare sector experience is preferred
