A recent survey of over 1,000 Canadians all over the country found that nursing is the most-respected profession, topping the list over doctors for the second year. The annual Insights West survey looked at various careers and asked 1,257 Canadians whether they respected the profession and how much. Ninety-two per cent of those surveyed said they viewed the profession of nursing either very positively or somewhat positively (60% and 32%, respectively), while 89% said they viewed doctors either very positively (45%) or somewhat positively (44%). Ranking just below those professions were farmers (88%) and veterinarians (88%). Results are based on an online study conducted by Insights West from May 26 to June 2, 2017, among a representative sample of 1,257 Canadian adults. The data has been statistically weighted according to Canadian census figures for age, gender and region. The margin of error—which measures sample variability—is +/- 2.8 percentage points
